We got stuck in traffic and so couldn't make it to Sylvia's opening. But we did get to Bob's. The next day we went to see Sylvia's show at Alexander Bonin in its new space downtown. Earlier in the day, there was an intense rainstorm with flooding, and some of the streets in Manhattan were blocked off. Sylvia had called to tell us that the openings and dinner might be canceled. So, we didn't leave as early as we might have. That and the traffic are the reasons we didn't get to Sylvia's opening. See the following entry. I am pretty sure the demarcations are in 5 year increments, so at each event the celebration would be for five years, ten years, fifteen years, etc of working at Vassar. The thing I like about this event, it is one of the rare times at Vassar when there is an event that crosses over all kinds of employees, staff, buildings and grounds, administrators, and faculty members. This event coincided with my being at Vassar for 35 years.
