After cleaning up for a few hours, I went up to bed and after getting ready I got into bed and noticed there was quite a bit of blood on the sheets, then I looked around and saw a good size puddle of blood on the floor next to the bed and figured that maybe something happened to the cat. Cathy (Murphy) said she doubted it was the cat because she had just seen her, the blood seemed to keep coming and I did realize it was coming from me. My ankle was bleeding profusely. I tried tissues and then paper towels to stop the bleeding, but it was pouring out pretty fast. In the bathroom I sat on the toilet and held some drenched paper towels against my ankle, while Cathy tried to unwrap a very old bandaid from the medicine cabinet. I told her that she should probably call 911. Cathy went downstairs to meet the EMTs at the kitchen door. They got to the house pretty fast, probably within 15 minutes. At one point there were 5 EMT people up in the bathroom with me and 4 or 5 more at the foot of the stairs. They established that I wasn't dizzy or nauseous or feeling faint. Laura (I think that was her name) washed off the area sprayed some saline on the puncture and the blood starting flowing again. She wrapped a bandage tightly around my ankle, Laura also took down some information, my name, what medicines I took, etc. Before going downstairs, I went into the bedroom so I could change my t-shirt which had paint on it. Downstairs I asked if someone could get the book I was reading (My Struggle, Karl Ove Knausgård), my glasses, my insurance card, and a credit card. I couldn't find my liscence, but it didn't seem to be important, because of all the other stuff I had. Out in the driveway were 4 or 5 cars and 2 ambulances. I was escorted into one of the ambulances and as we headed out to the hospital, they took my vital signs and checked the wound. In the emergency room at Vassar Brothers Hospital, I was looked at fairly quickly by two doctors. In the end, they glued the wound (not much more than a small puncture) with Durabond. When I was released I had trouble finding a way home. I eventually called Peter Charlap, see last entry. When I got home Cathy had cleaned up the blood from the bedroom and the bathroom.]]> When I was released from the hospital (see Visitors, EMT Crew, December 25, 2018). It turned out I had no way to get home. I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, so I didn't have a car and because it was Christmas Eve, none of the taxi companies were answering their phone. I called Mark Briscoe because he lives fairly close to the hospital. He did call me back, but was out in the Hamptons. I kept watching people coming and going and contemplated asking strangers to drive me home, but i didn't think that was going to work. I toyed with the idea of just spending the night in the waiting room, which wasn't all that attractive. So I gave in and called Peter Charlap. He and Shawn came in about a half hour (about 2am) to pick me up and take me home.]]> Simon got here at 11:00am instead of 10:00 becauser he overslept, which was fine since I had much to do this morning anyway before he got here. I didn't get up until 8:30am (which is very unusual for me), because I didn't get home from the hospital until after 2:30am (see Visitors, same date, Peter Charlap, and EMT Crew (the 25th). Also see Visitors, Christmas Dinner (the 24th). Simon helped me finish cleaning up from dinner last night and he discarded the basket full of bloody paper towels, and my blood drenched slippers. Then he and I went off to Eugene Carrol's house to take care of some business (see groups, Euguen Caroll's House, 2017/01/07). He seems to be our regular FedEx man for now, and is very likeable.]]> These two guys came to pick up Catherine's (Murphy) new diptych, Shift, and also the painting Flatscreen, to bring to the Peter Freeman Gallery, NYC. They wrote their names down on the back of the receipt, which I can't find. They work for Pocahontas and Zarathustra, an art moving company in Brooklyn, NY.]]> Charlie came to work]]> Charlie came to work. He usually works on Mondays and Fridays but for various reasons, at various times, the date gets changed. That week, he came on Saturday because Cathy's birthday was the day before (I'm assuming).]]> She came to clean the house]]> Andrew came to possibly plow]]> We were hearing loud noises from the extra pump in the basement, and the water pressure and temperature were fluctuating. He did something. We don't know if it's fixed.]]> Ben came to visit, possibly for a specific reason?]]> Charlie came to work]]> I'll have to call Peter up to find out why he stopped by. I did call him and he called right back. He had come to pick up my keys for Eugene Carroll's house.]]> Charlie came to work]]> Peter came by to return my set of keys to Eugene's House]]> Ben came to pick up the furniture he had chosen from Eugene Carroll's house. Charlie Smith (see last entry) went with Ben to load up the furniture. He acciddentally set off the alarm and I called the alarm company and got information so they could turn it off by themselves, because I was at least a half hour away. After Charlie went home, Ben, Cathy, and I were supposed to go out for dinner with Sam Speers and Lisa Brawley. Unfortunately, Catherine's (Murphy) frozen shoulder was very painful, so we never got to dinner. We got take out Chinese food. Ben spent the night and left for Jersey City the next morning.]]> Charlie brough Catherine (Murphy) to physical therapy and then helped Ben Keddy (see next entry) move some furniture (see next entry).]]> Charlie came to work. When they got back, we all ate lunch together, after which, Charlie shoveled the walk to Cathy's (Catherine Murphy's) studio. When they got back, he shoveled up to Cathy Catherine's (Murphy) studio. I went up back with Cathy and Charlie rested. When I came down Charlie and I had lunch. In the afternoon Charlie and I worked on what you are now reading.]]> Amanda dropped Charlie off for work this morning (see last entry) and came back to pick him up with their friend Chloe.]]> Ben stopped by to see us on his way home to Michigan from Maryland, where he'd been for over a month working on their house there (which they don't live in). He carried a motor out to the Bottini truck that I was giving to the technician (Patrick, see last entry). He had lunch with us (Me, Catherine, Charlie (see next entry)).]]> Charlie came to work. He took Catherine (Murphy) to physical therapy, then we had lunch with Ben (Busch (See last entry)). Charlie then left to go to Ispirian Rugs, after giving the station wagon a jump. He called me from a gas station on Main Street because the car wouldn't start. So, I went to meet him and we both went to Ispirian Rugs together and I decided to have them do more work on the rug and we didn't take it home anyway.]]> Patrick from Bottini Fuel came to service the two boilers and the water softener. Down in the basement we had an old dirty motor and he asked if I was going to keep it for something and I said ""no I'll be happy to get rid of it, and you want it? that's great."" Luckily, Benjamin Busch (see visitors 02/17/17) arrived while Patrick was still here because the motor was extremely heavy and Ben carried it out to Patrick's truck. I was grateful to Patrick for pointing out that the boiler in the studio building didn't have an air filter and we needed to get one.]]> Charlie took Catherine to physical therapy.
