The Red Shirt Crew (Julia, Olivia, Simon and Jimmy) were the first to arrive (not counting Ben Keddy, who stayed over.) There job at the party was to guide people for parking. When that was all done, they had dinner with us. I had spent weeks trying to figure out how the parking was going to work. Simon and I went over and over where the cars would go.]]> Mona Talbott of Talbott and Arding catered our anniversary party. We first knew of them from a party of Polly (Apfelbaum) and Stan (Allen) that she had catered and we had attended. We took note of how good the food was, it turns out that Mona cooked for a number of years at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California and was also, at one time, the chef at the American Academy in Rome. The food that she and her crew made for the anniversary party was wonderful.]]> Our 50th Wedding Anniversary Party.]]> Our 50th Wedding Anniversary Party.]]> The Pulver Family at our Anniversary Party]]> Our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We decided it would be nice to have them over for breakfast.]]> After Cathy's (Murphy) family left after breakfast, Cathy and I were sitting in the kitchen and looked out the window to see Jeanne Puryear walking towards the house carrying a bottle of champagne. We were rather surprised to see her, but understood, seeing the champagne, why she was here. It turned out that Jeanne thought the party was Sunday rather than Saturday, so arrived a day late. She did say she noticed it was rather quiet outside. We had tea and visited, more than we would have managed.]]> Ben arrived on the 14th of August and stayed at least through the 19th. He was helping us in various ways to get ready for our 50th wedding anniversary party on the 18th. Some evenings he went back to New Jersey to work for Uber, but usually he came back to sleep here except for one night]]> I can't remember which one. On the day of the party (the 18th) he spent about 4 hours vacuuming the Dutch barn. The Pulver family.]]> They came to mow.]]> I was sitting in the kitchen and see Gabrielle walking surreptitiously toward the table on the patio. She was just putting an envelope on the table, when I said "Hi!" which some what startled her. She was dropping off an anniversary card and thank you note for the party and didn't want to disturb us. So we got to visit for a bit.]]> Referencing Vassar College]]> Simon worked.]]> Aaron delivered salt to us and filled the water softeners. The reason Aaron's last name is in parenthesis in all the entries except for this one, is because this is the first time I asked his last name. So the others were added later.]]> Martin was in Scandinavia when we had our anniversary party. Jeanne came on Sunday instead of Saturday, so she missed the party. It precipitated inviting them and Tom and Joyce to dinner.]]> Wyatt came to do some weeding and dredging in the pond.]]> Simon dragged a staircase, we had stored in the far end of the chicken coop and brought it into Cathy's (Murphy) Studio. Then he helped set it up in order for Cathy to make some drawings for a painting she is thinking about. We also mounted drawing paper on a board and helped her set up for a drawing for another painting. Which she decided in the end not to do.]]> Cathy (Murphy) was cooking dinner. It seemed that we would have a good amount for 3 people so Cathy suggested we inviter Judy for dinner, which we did. We had Blue Fish (which we bought that morning at the Rhinebeck Farmers Market) with potatoes. The photograph is Judy reflected in the dining room window.]]> Alec Levinson ( our tenant) had called to tell me that his boiler wasn't working. Patrick from Bottini Oil came and fixed it.]]> When Simon got here I was out doing errands, so he did some stuff on his own and sharpened pencils. When I got back, we took the packages out of the car and ate lunch. Now we are working on this site. In a little while he is going to go out back and do some work with Cathy, after which we will do some more work on the site.]]> Simon and I are sitting at my computer entering data onto this website. He also added an extra faucet to the side of my studio building.]]> When Simon first got here he did his usual stuff. Then he sharpened pencils for Catherine (Murphy). After which he recorded phone messages. The phone messages will be put in appropriate places on this site.]]> Catherine (Murphy) is working on a set up for a new painting. There is a short staircase (which we have been holding onto for years) in the painting. Catherine after much decision making decided that the stairs and the floor at the bottom of the stairs should be carpeted. We had sent away for some rugs, but they didn't work out. Later on we went to heritage rug and carpet and picked out carpeting for the stairs. Kurt came to assess the situation.]]> I called Simon when he was on his way here and asked him to stop by the supermarket, and get paper towels and bottled water. Right now we are working on this site. Billy Finn called a little while ago to see if Cathy (Murphy) and I could meet him and Arthur for lunch. They are on there way to Pittsfield from NYC. Simon is going to have leftover Mushroom Risotto for lunch (earlier). When Cathy and I are out meeting Billy and Arthur, Simon is going to work on recording messages from our phone.]]> Tim came over to look at the last sculpture we made and he and I figured out how to correct the warp, we also talked about the porch roof leaking again.
