While hereI I asked him if he could make a replica of the birdhouse that was on the pole but got smashed when a tree fell on it. Which was Cathy&#039;s (idea).He said told me that when he repaired the original birdhouse he liked it so much he made a copy of it. He had installed it in his garden but house wrens moved in and caused havoc so he took it down and eventually it wound up in his garage. He had planned to surprise us and install it on top of the new pole, as a present. So, since I won&#039;t be able to be surprised he is going to install it and it will be a surprise for Cathy. i can&#039;t wait for this to happen. I forgot to take his photograph.]]> He did some things for me and some things for Cathy, including stretching the new canvas that Tim Liefer brought over the other day]]> While making dinner the stove slowed to a stop. We were out of gas. In order to finish dinner I went over to Alec&#039;s apartment and used his stove. I called Suburban and explained that we seemed to run out of gas. The man looked up our accond and there was a stop delivery on it because it said the tank was slanted. I told him the tank was fine. He said he would contact a specific supervisor and see about haveing gas delivered. About 9:00 PM I heard npoises outside. It was Nik delivering gas. He checked the tank, which seemed fine so he filled it. He. found out that whatever the issue was it had been taken cared of but the stop delivery notice hadn&#039;t been cleared. He came into the kitchen to make sure the stove was working and said he&#039;d also come back another time to check that everything was still fine. He had been here once before and seen the garden, so we talked a bit about gardening, which he is interested in.]]> There were some logs left in back of the house from the bad storm about a month ago. They had cables in the from being cabled to another part o the. tree. This was supposed to keep it from braking in a storm, but this storm was more like a tornado so it broke off anyway. Darren had ton grind off the bolts in order to get rid of the logs. He dis a few other things including pulling a lot of grass from the beach at the pond.]]> I was out doping errands and wanted to get a haircut before we leave for London on Monday.]]> Darren did various things in the garden, including pulling grass up from the shallow part of the pond. I have seen many Lantern flies around Poughkeepsie. For the first time Darren saw a bunch of the in an area of the garden, which is very troublesome.]]> Lieb set up for Catherine&#039;s (Murphy) painting on the patio, and periodically helped her move the painting. He took care of some issues with the smaller painting sketch. Also towards the end of the day he unset up the painting. He and I set up the response for me to contest some parking tickets that I thought were unfair. Among other things Lieb shoveled the path from our door to the driveway, in front of the garage and a path to my studio.]]> Lieb got here ten minutes early so we could both go to the Vets with Antoinette. Then we dis a number of errands, including going to On Location Studios so I could sign one of the Joseph Cornel prints. We also got lunch at La Villa for the three of us. After lunch Lieb shoveled by the door to Cathy&#039;s studio up back. He helped with a variety of things and we moved all of the files from my oldest computer onto the new one. It seems he went to Sherburne NY, then to Maine, then to us, tyou hen to Sherburne, the to Michigan. Driving everywhere,. He wasn&#039;t going to stay here at all, but we talked him into eating lobsters with us. He stayed about an hour and then off he went.]]> When he finished for the day. I made us both sandwiches and we ate lunch together. Talked a lot about our fathers.]]> Our friend Robert Mangold was having surgery at Vassar Brother;s Hospital today. we spoke with Sylvia Plimack Mangold a couple of days ago and offered to spend time with her at the hospital so she&#039;d have company. The morning of the 18, Sylvia called said she would like that to happen, Also a few days ago Ben Busch called to tell us he wouod be in Maine to watch a trial (too long a story for here) and he would like to stop by when the trial was over and bring us some lobsters. He said he would arrive at night on the 18th or 19th, let himself in and we&#039;d see him in the morning. So, I stripped the bed before turning in on Monday the 17th and washed thge sheets and put them up to dry before going to bed. In the morning, Lieb and I made the bed in the guest room and the spent the rest of the morning working on &quot;Peregrination&quot; and making decisions so that he would have plenty to work on while we were at the hospital. We spent the afternoon with Sylvia until Bob&#039;s surgery was over, and were able to see Bob before we went home. We got home in time to see Lieb and for me to feed the cat at her regular time. November 12, 2024 Wdnesday]]> Catherine is in an group exhibition - The View From Inside: with artists;Henni Alftan, Lois Dodd, Jane Freilicher, Josephine Halvorson, Yvonne Jacquette, Catherine Murphy, and Sylvia Plimack Mangold. We were to meet Daniel Wolff and some other people at the Karma Gallery at 11:30 AM. But due to Traffic we were about 1/2 hour late. A gallery assistant was nice enough to sit in the car at the fire hydrant while we saw the show and spoke with people. We went to lunch with Daniel at the Essex Street Market. By the time we were done with lunch Cathy and I had to leave for the doctor. Daniel went off to see some more art and later to a talk by Michael Brenson. For the first course, Swiss Chard Pie, roasted red peppers with Mozzarella Cheese, and delicata squash, for the main couse we had bouillabaise, and for dessert, bavarian cream, wine and other beverages. Judy made cookies and Suzanne brough various infused drinks she made.]]> It took him the rest of the second day to finish installing the new sink in the kitchen. It turned out to be a very complicated operation. ]]> It turned out to be a much larger jib than he and I thought it was going to be.<br /> <br /> The pipes leading to the faucets were partly galvanized steel. The steel had to be replaced, which led him down to my studio. Finding the connections and the shut off valve was extremely difficult. He had to shut off the water from the well. Also, I had sculptures and a large drawing and many other things stored in the small room where the pipes were. We had to cover all of this up to protect the work. Roger got very tense and I kept reassuring him that he shoukd just keep working and not to worry it too much. I think it was frustrating for him and he was worrie about how much he would have to chsarge us. Which turned oiut to be quite a bit.]]>
