She accepted and decided to read from John Yau's Monograph on Thomas Nozkowski. She conferred with Thomas about which section to read and asked him which paintings he would like her to show while she was reading. He sent us reproductions of four paintings. It turned out that I had met Paulo at the Queens Museum a few years ago when I showed photographs in a talk about Joseph Cornell. Tammy Nguyen had visited Didier William's printmaking class at Vassar, but we hadn't met at that time. We dropped Catherine's new drawing ("Night Watch") off at the Peter Freeman Gallery before heading to Poets House. Saturday, this close to Christmas, meant that we had to deal with particularly heavy traffic in Manhattan. I had only driven through Battery Park City one other time in the past. Poets House was in a building right across from the river. Despite all of the traffic and so many people in the street (including many people dressed as Santa Claus), Battery Park City was very quiet. Night by the river was very beautiful and felt like a different city in a different place. Poetry House was quite elegant. We got there early so that I could set up the thumb drive that had Thomas' paintings on it. I had set up both a keynote and a PowerPoint presentation. The staff at Poets House told me that they had both applications. But it turned out they could only provide PowerPoint.
