I got a spot pretty quickly, Although the walk to the point where the official walkway started was a bit far, I arrived at the walkway a bit after 2 p.m. There was an event at 2:00, which consisted of groups of people representing many towns in the Hudson Valley. They walked as groups across the bridge. Participants from towns on the east side of the river started walking west from that side. And the west side groups walked east from their side of the river. They passed each other in the middle of the bridge. When they got to the end they walked back in the other direction. I just walked into the procession unquestioned and walked sometimes with one group and sometimes with another. There were also Marching bands, police brigades, pipers, cub scouts, etc. I saw people I knew well and people I knew slightly, as well as many people I didn't know. Technically some of these photographs should go under - Groups: Chance Encounters, but I decided to keep them together here. See the previous five entries and the following two entries.</text>

<text>A band of pipers. I went to one of the events for the opening celebration of the Walkway Over the Hudson (the old Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge). The opening for the general public was supposed to be at 3 p.m. I got there early because I figured parking would be a problem. See the previous seven entries.</text>

Far too many of the same people wearing different sets of clothes appear on this date. Somehow there is a discrepancy regarding the "roll date" of these images. Because photo in this entry is conspicuously numbered "#17" and was posted on site only two entries after "A Get-together. 4 of 4" That photo was originally dated "1974-03-25 (roll date, image # 16)" but then I redated it (along with the other two photos/entries in the series) to March 9, 1974 so that it would match the "A Get-together. 1 of 4" that displayed the date of the event as March 9th. Because this is image #17 from that roll, I am guessing that this entry could have taken place on the day after "A Get-together". So I dated it 3/10/74. For the other photos in the Visitors section that are dated 3/25/74, I will be making an educated guess on the sequence of images between March 9 and March 25. This guess will be based on the roll image number and other clues in the photos (such as clothing discrepancies, day/night lighting conditions, which meal of the day, etc.)</text>

If this site gets to stay active after I die (this possibility sits with Vassar College), eventually everyone on the site could be in this section. I am thinking if it stays active, whether I would like to have someone else add people to this section as they die, including me. Of Course this information would have had to cross their paths. That is something I need to think about. If I arrange for that to happen I would have that person or those people indicate that they are the ones who added a particular name.</text>

Waiting at the doctors office I read a particularly terrific part starting with Emily Dickinson and taking up 2 or 3 pages, about writing (art), the individual and the us (society). Back at the Poughkeepsie train station, walking to my car I came across this wedding party posing for photographs. I just missed tthe whole group posing. I asked them if they would all pose again, not surprisingly they weren't interested. Not surprising since they had no idea who I was. (see next entry)</text>

I read, but mostly slept on the way down I had an appointment with Dennis Cardone, a doctor and a friend. I am reading, MY Struggle, by Karl Ove Knausgaard. (see last entry)</text>
