Joyce had gone to see her financial analyst in Poughkeepsie, so she stopped by to say hi.
I am no sure if Darren and Jean Jean had already started the rock wall in front of the Dutch barn, but if they had, they worked on it, and if they hadn't they worked on the garden.
I'm assuming that they worked on the rock wall in front of the Dutch Barn.
For some reason, Ray and Al's wife (from Al's garage) had to come over. Possibly to bring the car back or bring it up.
We worked on the site and some other stuff.
I was getting nervous that one of my Christmas presents for Cathy (Murphy) was going to get here on time. It was a book of her working drawings that I was having printed by the online publishers Artifact Uprising. The FedX man delivered that package - I was very glad to see him.

Benjamin came to drive Catherine to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in Manhattan. I was going to drive her, bit I have to go for treatment every morning Monday thru Friday an hour and 1/2 each way. Saturday we went to Hudson for Elena Sisto's opening at the Pamela Salisbury Gallery. I needed a day off from driving. So I stayed home and drew all day. I was looking forward to seeing the Charles Ray Exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The show is on through June 5, so I should be able to see it later. Ben tried to see it but the line to get into the museum was so long that he didn't have enough time while Catherine was at a meeting to give out awards and prizes to artists included in the American Academy's yearly invitational. She is the head of the committee. When they got home Ben did a couple of things for us before he headed home.
Katie and Eneas were taking a short break and visited us in the afternoon for tea, coffee, snacks and sweets. They looked at Catherine's (Murphy) new painting and drawing. We visited, talked and ate, the afternoon sliding by at great neck speed. The brought us the beautiful flowers in the background of the photograph of Katie.
We had arranged to meet Suzanne Joelson and Gary Stephan at Elena Sisto's (there were other shows opening in the gallery at the same time) opening at the Pamela Salisbury Gallery in Hudson NY. Then to go out to dinner. Suzanne called us to say that Dennis and Shelly were to take the same train up to Hudson for Elena's show. She suggested they join us for dinner, which we thought a very good idea. So we all had dinner together at Ca'Mea. we had a very good time. the food was only so so. For example, My restaurant made Gnocchi themselves were really good, but the sauce was insipid. Catherine's pasta in clam sauce was reasonably good but the clams were exceedingly tough.
This was Darren's first day working in the garden for the season. Jean didn't come because Alyah didn't feel well so she stayed home to take care of her.
Darren took down some dead plants from last season and took down all of the Hardware Cloth surrounds on the bushes and small trees. he also put Malorganite around the tulips to keep the dear off. before he left he called us out to look at the stone wall he and Jean built in front of the Dutch Barn. Someone at vandalized the wall and thrown the stones around. This was very depressing. We were angry and sad about it.

At Adams Fairacre Farms. One sub area of self portraits is with people I know long term from doing errands. Brad started working at Adams in November, 1988. I started shopping there in 1980. He is extremely helpful in helping me purchase seafood.

I wrote up a job description to send places in order to find someone to assist me with the China 1987 film I am working on. I wrote to various people, including Brent Green. Brent is an artist in residence in Film and Electronic Arts at Bard College. I had never met Brent, but found his information on the Bard College website. He very nicely sent me some names of people he thought might be interested. Dwayne is a recently graduated from an undergraduate program at Bard. We met on this Zoom call and he will do something on the project as an audition for a part time job. I received a three year grant from Vassar College to help pay for some of this. I have been paying Jeff Halstead from the same grant.
A had asked Tim to build me shelves in my studio. He is also trying to finish building a new house for him and Sue. In between Cathy (Murphy)m needed stretchers for two new paintings. This being more pressing, he built those ealrier. Today he came over to build the shelves in my studio. The space they went into was supposed to hold a Murphy bed when I thought I would actually have overnight guests in my studio. A terrible idea, which fortunately I never followed through on. He had lunch with me and Cathy and Ben Keddy. We brought in food from La Cabinita in Poughkeepsie.

This self-portrait is part of my local Business sub-category. I did a series of photographic installations in various places I frequented to do errands, which was also called Local Business. These self-portraits are the next incarnation of that project. The first one I did and the only one intact was done at Gladmore Cleaners. The photograph above our heads is a part of that installation. The installations consisted of photographs I did on site and were installed around the establishments without explanation or attribution.
