Tom Ellman drove me home from school. This morning Aaron Lockhart and I left for NYC at 7:00 AM to take down my shoe at Sacha and Olivier's. We were able to get me back to Vassar at 2:00 so I could attend half of the presentation by Sasha Zweibel for her Senior Thesis. I am one of her advisors on this project. Aaron dropped me off and took the car to my house so he could unload the photographs from the show. That meant that after the Computer Animation class i teach with Tom Ellman I didn't have a ride home, so Tom agreed to drive me.]]> 1990-11-24 (roll date, image #18). We were on a plane taxiing in at JFK on our way home from Sweden. I received a text from Douglas Degges saying how sorry he was to hear about Tom's death. It was like getting hit in the head. We picked up Diane Neumaja at the bus station in New Paltz on the way to the cemetery. Bob Mangold and Sylvia Plimack Mangold followed us in their car. We met up with them at a gas station in New Paltz. As we neared where the cemetery was supposed to be, we couldn't find it. It turned out Joyce (Robins) had accidentally given us a slightly different address. I started to knock on doors to ask for directions. It was hard to find anyone at home. At a house that turned out to be empty, I slipped, trying to step up on a porch (I didn't see any steps) and fell and rolled. Everyone watching thought the roll was on purpose because it looked like how you were told to fall. I hurt my ribs, which I still feel now that it is a few weeks later. A man in a gas station gave us the final correct directions to the cemetery. Joyce asked if I would be one of the pallbearers. I said sure and was hoping my fall wouldn't make it too difficult. It didn't. See the previous entry and the following two entries.]]> Tom died on May 9, 2019. We were on a plane taxiing in at JFK on our way home from Sweden.
