We hadn't called pest Tech for quite some time to refill the mouse traps with poison. I called them a few days ago and they sent Megan to fill the traps. She has not come here before.]]> Megan came to change all the mouse traps (house, studio, guest cottage), investigate the carpenter ants in my unheated studio (It turns out that the building is infested with powder post beetles), and look at the damage from woodpeckers on Catherine's (Murphy) studio. It turned out that we have woodpecker damage on both studios, but we are going to take care of that ourselves. They wanted around $650 to put up reflective balloons and reflective tape. We are going to have them treat the powder post beetles in my unheated studio.]]> See the following entry.]]> See the previous entry.]]> 2012-5-5 Saturday - Dinner after Rosemary Hamilton's memorial Service. Afterwards we went to dinner at Mercato in Red Hook, NY.]]> I sat next to Shane at the recent fundraiser for The Barrett Art Center on March 3, 2019 (five entries before this one). Shane and I had run into each other periodically at Vassar. Bryce Daniel, a student in his documentary film class, made a short film about me (see the Bryce Daniel entry from October 14, 2016). I had met Shane's wife, Xinran, briefly on campus. Cathy and I decided that it would be nice to meet Elena and David for dinner since we hadn't seen them for a while, and also invite Shane to see if he and Xinran would like to attend with the four of us. It seemed like a good group of people. So we all met for dinner at Mercato, which turned out to be a good fit. I think everyone had a good time. Lots for everyone to talk about.nI had forgotten my camera, and the conditions for photographing with my phone weren't great. So I wound up taking some quite poor photographs. But combined as GIF, they turned out reasonably. Shane's email from later that evening mentioned that Francesco Butoni, the chef-owner of Mercato, was on the "Beat Bobby Flay" television cooking show last week. Bobby Flay won because the judges thought Francesco's seafood d'Avalos was under seasoned. Catherine had that dish, and although the seafood was perfectly cooked, the dish was under seasoned. n----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------nnThe following are Shane and David's email messages to me...nnShane Omar Slattery-QuintanillanSun, Mar 17, 11:23 PM (16 hours ago)nto me, elena_sisto, david, XinrannnThanks Harry for the dinner invitation and thank you all for a lovely evening in Red Hook. See the previous two entries.]]> Tony Shore, has asked Catherine to come to MICA for a couple of years. Tony was a student of Catherine's at Yale at least 20 years ago. So Catherine finally did say yes, and so the time came, and we headed to Baltimore on a Sunday. It took forever to get there, much longer than we had expected.nWe arrived late afternoon at the Revival Hotel. The MICA people set up the reservation. We had thought if we got to Baltimore early enough, we'd go to the art museum. That didn't happen. We had dinner in our rooms and rested for the evening. Catherine had to be at the Brown Center auditorium at about 11:15 am for a technical check. Her talk was at noon. Ben Busch, who was in College Park, MD working on the house that he and Tracy used to live in, attended the talk. The talk went exceedingly well. We had lunch (pictured in this entry) in a place on campus. Following lunch, Catherine did critiques with a number of students-- many more than she had planned. After the critiques, she conducted a discussion and question session with some students and faculty. I planned to go to the Baltimore Museum of Art. But I didn't think of it, and no one who I told I was going thought of it either. So when I finally remembered and arrived at the museum, it was closed-- not entirely a surprise, considering most museums I know of are closed on Mondays. I spent the rest of the time writing the first draft of a proposal for an exhibition to give to Elena Sisto. She had asked me for something in writing for a show she is working on for me. More about this later on, if it happens. If, not then this is the last you'll hear of it. See the following two entries.]]> Tony Shore, has asked Catherine to come to MICA for a couple of years.
