July 16, 1973 (roll date, image #18)”]]> They came over to see how Pansy was— On our (Cathy and me) way to the park, where I was doing a sculpture, and Cathy was making a painting, a little kitty cam up to us. She was starving and sickly. She was a calico, just the color kitten that Cathy had been wanting. I took her home by taxi. We took a bus to this park from where we live. I was locked out of our apartment, and the neighbor wasn't home. So I had to break our screen to get in. Then I went back to the park. When we got back home, the kitten had terrible diarrhea. We called Jon, and he took us to the veterinarian. The vet was horrible, hardly looked at her, gave her a shot in the neck, and said goodbye. On the way home, she threw up & kept meowing. At home, she shivered and couldn't stand up. We thought she was dying. We sat and watched her, and she took a nap. When she awoke, she was a bit better. We called Jon and Joy, and they came over. The four of us sat on the kitchen floor and watched Pansy (the name Cathy gave the kitten) for two hours. She would nap for ten minutes, have a nibble of chopped beef, nap again, and then repeat the process. She seemed to be reviving. By the next morning, she was much better.]]> They came over for dinner.]]> They came over to finish up Donald's dinner. See the previous entry.]]> Jon and Joy came to hang Jonathan's painting. We put it up because Donald Droll was coming the next day and thus he could see it. We had Coquilles Saint-Jacques à la nantaise (au naturel), scallops in scallop shells or ramekins with butter and shallots, canards en cassoulet (special cassoulet with duck and hot sausages. This was a dinner that came from Simone Beck's book, Simca's Cuisine, and is an "earthy dinner for high-spirited friends", a description I don't think we managed to live up to. We also had a green salad. And for dessert, baked apple with whipped cream. The Marilyn Monroe t-shirt Jon is wearing is one he just made. He said he is going to make me two t-shirts, one with Cathy on it, and another with Gertrude Stein on it.,Original entry title: Joy and Jon 3 3 74]]> They came over for the last two pieces of Cathy's birthday cake (see last entry).,Original entry title: Joy and Jon 1 20 74]]> They came for a visit.,Original entry title: Joy and Jon 1 13 74]]> They came for a visit.,Original entry title: Joy and Jon 1 6 74]]> 1974-08-29, Thursday, Joy Santlofer, Jon Santlofer.
