I went to East Dale to pick up some French Macaroons at the Macaroon Bakery and a bread at Rossi's. East Dale is a rather new development at one edge of Poughkeepsie, NY. It has apartment buildings (which have not been designed well, not even in a fake world) and a couple of clocks of cute shops and apartments over the shops, which gives it an almost real town look. The buildings that house the stores are rather sweet and picturesque looking. there is a small green area in front of some of the stores that functions as a town square. The grass on the green is astroturf. weirdly enough, I enjoy going there because of its fakeness. It is a bit like being in a stage set or a dream. Also, Rossi's has some terrific stuff, great bread, and mozzarella cheese. There is a medical building on one side that has an office of Urology and was there before East Dale and I had been to as a patient. On the other far side and in the back is a Lutheran Home, which has also been there for some time. Steve was there with his wife Marie and his mother Jane. Jane has been living in the Lutheran Home for about a year. East Dal makes visiting Jane more enjoyable and easier, which makes sense. They can just bring her to the "town center" and stroll or have a bite. I have known Steve for many years at Vassar, he is the Steve Taylor Steve is the Director of Academic Computing Services (ACS). We have worked together on specific projects a number of times and he has always been extremely helpful. It was nice to run into him because we had not seen each other for some months.  I had never met his wife or mother before.  I couldn't stay long because I was parked illegally, a no no in  Truman World.
